After facing many hurdles, Vana Yudhdham, a bio-pic on forest brigand Veerappan, has finally hit the screens.Despite a documentary feel from the beginning till the end, the movie is a worthy attempt in terms of portraying Veerappan's life on screen.
The movie directed by A M R Ramesh (of Kuppi fame), may be due to pressures from various sides, presents only an incomplete picture on Veerappan.
In Vana Yudhdham, there is no reference about Veerappan's wife Muthulakshmi. Likewise, some other important happenings are also missing.
But putting aside these things, one has to appreciate Ramesh for trying to strike a balance while presenting Veerappan's story as a film.
Kishore plays the role of Veerappan, while Arjun plays top cop Vijayakumar who led the team that killed the sandalwood smuggler in an encounter. Both have done their parts well.
Ravi Khale and Lakshmi Rai are also there, and their performance add value to the movie.
Cinematography by Vijay Milton deserves special mention, as scenes shot inside jungles are eye-catching. Music by Sandeep Chowta is adequate.
To sum it up, Vana Yudhdham could have been a much better show. Ramesh owes an answer to those who feel that something is missing in the film.
