REVIEW
His story is history

Despite his busy work schedule, Chief Minister M Karunanidhi is back in the tinsel town with Pen Singam, a film that has a script packed with punch, penned by him.

The dialogue writer of Raajakumari and Manohara has come out with powerful phrases this time too, which could be a treat for those who love to enjoy young actors uttering chaste Tamil words.

Besides playing with Tamil, the Chief Minister, whose prowess in the language needs no introduction, has come out with contemporary dialogues too, in an apparent bid to show that he is still young at mind.

The story is about Surya (Uday Kiran), who lands in a soup for a murder not committed by him. With Nagendran (Richard) and others acting opposite him, enters Megala (Meera Jasmine), an IPS officer.

Megala is none other than Surya's lady love and a former colleague of him, who is now a top police officer. How she brings to book the real culprit is the rest of the film.

All the actors- from Udaya Kiran to Meera Jasmine to Vivek to J K Ritheesh to Rambha- shine well. But the real hero is the script by Kalaignar, which is racy and riveting.

Music by Deva fits the bill well. Though there are some lagging moments, the film directed by Bali Srirangam and produced by J Nandini Arts, is a different attempt and a delight for those who love Karunanidhi and his Tamil.
